My
EmptiNesst
by Nancy Ness
My cherished dovelets bide
Within my feathered Nesst
To flourish by my side.
When down submits to plumes
So tentative in flight,
They've grace, as lovely loons.
I've taught them how to fly,
And though they now alight
While flitting by and by,
I'd rather see them soar
About in worldly heights.
They'll then learn even more.
From aerie perch on high
With views of every sight,
My doves can reach the sky.
'Tis time to fluff and primp
This empty feathered Nesst
For brooding in the spring.
A simile is as easy as pie, but a
metaphor is a piece of cake!
