Father and Friend
by Velma M. Carlson

Dearest father and friend,
   You have bid us adieu.
The angels of death came and
   Called
The brought you a message.
   ‘Twas from Heaven above,
one that must come to us al
l

You carried your cross,
   Dearest father and friend.
In this world you had darkness
   For years.
In life you spread sunshine to
   Others.
In death I know you will see.

We shall miss you so
   Dearest father and friend.
But we know you are resting
   “In Peace”.
You have not died; you have just
   Gone away.
Dearest father and friend

“Sleep.”
