Forever Friends
by Nancy Ness

T’was blackest night as ink on page of white;
Reflections seen through but a single flame,
By candlelight then sat with quill to write
Thoughts far too intimate for worldly claim.

Yet nary dreams enscribed, for dawn befell
E’er visions’ full enlightenment of day.
Still heartfelt reverie of mind to tell,
And you to hear so many miles away.

Warm rays of Sunshine easily withstand
Intrinsic trust, time’s unencumbrant yield.
Life’s quest a selfless gift with no demand;
True sharing comes with hopes and dreams revealed.

I know that you are there, yet here with me
And bound forever friends with love that’s free

A simile is as easy as pie, but a metaphor is a piece of cake!
