Grand-daughter Chris
by Velma M. Carlson

I remember Chris as a little girl,
As sweet as she could be.
And when we went to her house

She would climb upon my knee.

She would put her arms around
   My neck,
And whisper in my ear – “Can I

Go home with you, Nana?
Ask my mother while you’re here.”

She was always so very loving when
   Just a little “tot”
And we loved it when we brought
   Her home
And we did so quite a lot.

Now she is married and has her
   Own home –
A husband and two little boys.
   I know she is happy – she’s a
“wonderful mom’

and living the life she enjoys.

She still finds the time to remember me.
Comes often to spend the day.
I love her and I’m sure she knows
   In a very special way.
I think of her so often and again
   Sometimes I wish
That she lived closer to me – my

   Sweet grand-daughter Chris.

A simile is as easy as pie, but a metaphor is a piece of cake!
