In My Memories
by Velma M. Carlson

Over the years in my memories
And I wish I could go back
I recall such happy hours, and
Now it’s what I lack;
Just wish that things could be the
Same
As they were in the years that are
Past.
But I guess that it can never be
As nothing really lasts.
In the years gone by as I stop to
Think
They were the happiest of all – as we
Worked and saved.
We had each other and our children.
They were small,
And when night came we were
All together.
It was always a happy time.
No television to watch or movie, but
Storybooks with rhymes;
Somehow the years just slipped away
Can’t seem to remember when, but
Now they are grown and have their own homes
With just my memories left
I would like to turn back the
Many years
And start all over again.  They
were wonderful times – and
they are truly mine, in
“My years of memories.”

A simile is as easy as pie, but a metaphor is a piece of cake!
