I Wish I
Were You
by Nancy Ness
'Tis true, my love, my precious one ~
I wish I could be you.
Your trust and love for all I do,
Your joy with each day's sun.
I envy so your faith in me,
No questions in your heart.
Our souls enjoined right from the start,
And for eternity.
Your innocence and smile of gold
Embrace me as you sleep.
My wisdom, though, I'd like to keep.
You're merely five months old.
A simile is as easy as pie, but a
metaphor is a piece of cake!
