Karen Marie
(for Marcy Devine)
by Nancy Ness

'Twas sixty-six, March twenty-four
The third of three, one to adore
My Karen Marie was blessed to me.

You held your own with brother Sean
And Elizabeth, your Second Mom
Just bubbling with energy.

Those teenage years you'd dance and skate
Remember who was your first date?
A fine young lady, plain to see.

Then Chi Omega' s sisterhood
a UM grad, I knew you would.
Four years with honors, naturally.

Now venturesome, renouncing fears,
Bahama's girl for seven years
And back to Beantown's Newbury.

You fix their nails and feet and face,
And bodies if they keep your pace ~
A Pat's cheerleader wanna be

Now you should know, for crying out loud,
You make me berry berry proud ~
Little Miss Lovely, Karen Marie.

A simile is as easy as pie, but a metaphor is a piece of cake!
