In
Memory of Mother
by Velma M. Carlson
(February 10, 1967)
One
year ago, you went to sleep
And
left this mortal shore.
You
journeyed on to be with Him;
To tread this earth no
more.
You
told us not to sob and mourn
But to live an honest life;
That
you were resting in His care
Away from toil and strife.
You
told us that you loved us all
To always do the right; and
“Please,”
don’t weep when I’m gone,
I’ve lived a long, long
life.
So
often you quoted scriptures
Which we remember still.
About
how you found contentment
Lifting your eyes unto the
hills.
You
said your strength all came
From There.
So,
Dearest Mother, rest in
peace
As
time goes by – and years.
A simile is as easy as pie, but a
metaphor is a piece of cake!
