My Home
by Velma M. Carlson

My dear old home in Aroostook
I love to hear the name.
A few miles out in the country
In the town of Caribou, Maine.
I lived for many years there,
No sweeter place on earth
Than dear old Aroostook County
Maine.
The land of my birth.
‘Twas in the country school house
that I learned my ABC’s;
learned to read and to write,
as happy as could be.

  Dear old Aroostook County, Maine;
Times are hard for you.
Prosperity is bound to come.
Buck up, you’ve work to do.
Don’t look down, look up and
Smile;
And your neighbor will the while.
Health and happiness be your aim
Dear old Aroostook County
Maine.

A simile is as easy as pie, but a metaphor is a piece of cake!
