A Holiday Prayer
by Velma M. Carlson

We thank thee Dear God For the blessing of life
For thy wondrous love and care.
We thank thee Dear God For our home and Church
For we know that thou art there.

We thank thee Dear Lord For the chance to live
To love, to serve thee each day.
May we hear thy word with open minds
Teach us, Dear Lord, to pray.

Help us Dear Lord to live our lives
That we may resemble thee.
Help us obey thy every wish
Whatever it may be.

Let us be kind to others, Dear God,
And cheer them along the way.
We could accomplish so little without thee, Lord
Help us, Dear God, we pray...

Dear Lord, thou knowest our every need.
Our burdens when heavy to bear ~
Show us the way of truth and light
Our many blessings to share.

Fill our hearts with confidence and love
And let our light so shine.
Increase our faith in thee, Dear Lord,
With "peace and joy" in mind.

We pray, Our Father, for peace on earth
And good will toward all men.
We pray for our lads in foreign wars,
That they will come home again.

AMEN
