Trying Hard
by Velma M. Carlson

I am trying so hard to get along
Living my life alone
But did you ever stop, just once,
To think
How lonesome it would be at home?
Did you ever think just how you
Would feel
At night when it’s dark and still?
To be by yourself and sit by
Yourself
Wouldn’t it give you a chill?
Don’t you think sometimes that
It could happen to you?
It’s very painful sorrow.
So live for today – be happy
And gay
But who knows what may come
Tomorrow.

A simile is as easy as pie, but a metaphor is a piece of cake!
